Our team honestly does love slab laying and take pride in adding the best possible finish to gardens or exterior commercial social areas. We love when a customer goes the extra mile and adds a complementary edging and/or slab circles for the perfect finish. We lay natural stone, ceramic, porcelain and cement slabs. And can lay where needed from flat roofs and balconies to flush finish from a porcelain/ceramic tile from interior to exterior to add a harmony to the house and garden.
It’s important to find the right slab finish for you, you need to keep in mind the surface can sometimes be to smooth causing it to be a slip hazard and to rough can a trip hazard. Also please bear in mind heat attraction we laid a dark grey Brazilian slate patio for a customer, I pre-warned they would get hot and in the summer we were back to replace with Indian sandstone after the customers grandchild burnt there hand. We recommend using the range from awbs.ltd.(find link to awbs on home page) We have used them as our main supplier for many years and find their product superior to the majority of companies. They also have a show room in there Oxford branch to find what’s right for you. However we are here to please our customers not our suppliers so if they have nothing suitable or you have other slabs in mind we can do our best to find this for you.
Fist we discuss with the customer the best size and location of the patio to suit your needs. We then discuss on the right finish hight and if drainage is needed. Then on the typical patio we usually dig down 140mm from the underneath side of the slab. We add any drainage needed, we typically lay a membrane to prevent weed growth. 100mm of aggregate is compacted in then we lay our slabs on a full bed of motor while applying a bonding solution to the back side of the slab with a brush or roller. After full patio is layed we then go back over to do the joints we recommend using pointfix or similar products as it can expands and prevents cracking. This is our usual process however it sometimes differs to curtain products and we always finish to above or equal to manufacturers recommendations.
I have gone to countless jobs where customers have paid what they believe to be a professional to put right there shoddy work. I have encountered so many bad patios typically dot and dab which is very bad practice or just laid on sand. Rest assured this is not us all our work is carried out to or above industry standards and we are yet to have any problems with our work.
